It’s been a very long time since I did a monthly faves post. Oops. Life’s just got in the way.
But recently, I’ve been trying a few new bits and pieces…and rediscovering some old beauty favourites. Don’t you just love that; finding something tucked away at the back of your dressing table or buried away in an old makeup bag that radically changes your everyday beauty routine? Best days ever.
Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
Before I rave about this foundation, I’ll just say one thing…it’s not stolen my heart away from my beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear Light. I love that stuff just oh so much. However, I recently fancied trying something new, especially with Summer just around the corner (hurry up please) and I’d read sooo many reviews on Nars’ Sheer Glow. I took a little trip to Space NK with a fellow blogger friend and treated myself. I have the shade Medium 2 and I do really like it; it’s dewy, makes my skin feel light and hardly touched and I love the fact it comes with a handy pump. However, it’s longevity is nowhere near as amazing as Estee Lauder’s. If I wear this alone, I find I have to top it up by lunchtime so I tend to mix it with my normal foundation for long lasting results. I do still love it though; here’s to glowy faces.
OPI Nail Laquer in Live Love Carnaval
Oh my goodness, this is just Summer in a nail varnish. I’m totally drawn to coral pinks when it comes to nail colours, especially at this time of year and everyone knows that OPI varnishes are just the bomb. I got my hands on this Live Love Carnaval shade recently and am just in love. Expect to see this on my fingers and toes a lot over the coming months. I found I only needed one layer of this; it’s amazingly long lasting and fabulously bright and “in your face”. Partnered with my favourite Seche Vite top coat and I feel like a proper manicured goddess.
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
I know, I know. I’m mega late to this party. I was recently lucky enough to attend the Glamour Magazine Beauty Festival and the goody bag was like Christmas all over again. The famous Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream was included and oh wow, why haven’t I been putting this on my hands forever? I do tend to get very dry hands, particularly when I’m a bit run down or stressed out but I have a bit of a thing about oily, greasy hand creams. They freak me out. This cream soaks in beautifully and genuinely leaves your hands feeling super soft and luxurious for hours. I have this in a rather handy handbag sized 30ml but once it’s depleted, I’ll definitely be topping up with a full size tube.
Tanya Burr Rosy Flush Cheek Palette
Here’s an old favourite that’s making a reappearance in my everyday makeup routine. My friend, Becky, gave me this palette for Christmas and I used it religiously for about 2 months. Then I got distracted by various other highlighters and bronzers and blushers and almost completely forgot about this palette. Silly me. This palette has the perfect shades for my skin; the bronzer (which is clearly very loved) has a hint of sparkle but is lovely and subtle; the blusher has gold hints running through it for a real glamorous finish and the highlighter is just dreamy. Plus, the mirror is super handy for those days where you need a quick top up at your desk. I just love this palette so much and it goes everywhere with me from now on.
L’oreal Paris Lumi Magique Concealer
I recently raved about this in another post (you can read that here) but I just couldn’t not mention it. I’m still totally in love with this highlighting concealer. Yes, it’s more pricey than most drugstore concealers but just look at that gold packaging. How could I not have it? Plus, it hides my dark circles like a pro and gives my cheek bones extra glow. Win win.
Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder
I know this is a cult favourite amongst many beauty bloggers but it’s a new discovery for me. I always swore by my Collection powder but one day, I looked at my face and it just felt…”claggy”. Is that a word? I’m not sure; but it’s the only way I could describe my face. I felt like it was weighing my makeup down and making my face look a bit flat. A friend recommended this Rimmel London alternative and I just love it. It’s light; sets my foundation perfectly and gets rid of any unwanted shine. Love love love.
