The Body Shop is without doubt my go-to place for skincare products these days. Over the last couple of years, it’s become the only place I venture to for both everyday and luxurious body products.
When The Body Shop released their Spa of the World range last year, pretty much every beauty blogger around did a little dance of joy. The packaging is beautiful, the range looked sleek and high end and who doesn’t love a new spa collection to get your hands on?
I was given this Hawaiin Kukui Cream for Christmas and I must admit, I didn’t get on with it at first. It’s a really thick consistency, more of a body butter than a cream, and so when I first applied it one cold January morning, I was a bit disappointed. It didn’t seem to soak into my skin all that well and it just seemed like a lot of hard work for a quick moisture slap-on in the mornings. So I popped it on my dressing table and didn’t think about it for a while.
When my boyfriend and I got back from holiday a couple of weeks ago, straight off a 23 hour journey on three different planes and across three different time zones, we walked through the door and felt like our tans had immediately fallen off. Does anyone else every feel like that after a long-haul flight? So we were in desperate need of some moisturiser. We’d finished up our beloved Piz Buin after-sun and it was 9.30pm so no shopping opportunities were available. I had no choice but to reach for the Kukui Cream….and thank goodness I did.
I don’t know whether it’s because my skin was desperately thirsty or because I had a tan or because I was just more patient when applying it this time around but this cream has been a complete game-changer in the past few weeks. Not only does it smell amazing (like “seriously I kind of want to eat this” amazing) but it’s made our tans look so much deeper and so much more glowing. Toby is obsessed with it and it’s definitely won me over this time.
If you’re after a new moisture cream that you can quickly apply in the mornings or before bed then I might not recommend this one only because it does take a little longer to soak into your skin and I’m not sure on its longevity – I apply it after my shower each morning but my skin looks and feels dry before the end of the day – yet its rich texture and amazing scent alone make this Body Shop beauty worth it. Plus, anything that keeps my holiday glow last a bit longer in this gloomy, cold British climate is a winner in my eyes.
