We might not celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK but I think it’s important to sit back sometimes and think of all the things you’re currently thankful for in your life. Here’s a few of mine…
The roof over my head
We bought our first house six months ago and whilst there are things I still want to do to it and things I want to buy, I’m truly grateful that I have a warm roof over our heads and love that I still feel a rush of pride and happiness every time I come home after a long day in the office.
My wonderful partner in crime
I wouldn’t be the person I am without my other half. He is truly wonderful.
A family that supports me
Support is so much more than financial; it’s emotional and physical support and I’m very grateful for the fact that I have two parents who are hard working, ambitious and caring. Plus I have a little brother (although he towers over me) who, despite not seeing each other much, has my back no matter what.
I’ve had some scares in the past and it’s almost a year to the day that I was taken to hospital for what turned out to be the scariest three days of my life. But I’m here to tell the tale and can honestly say that period of my life has made me more grateful for my good health.
Four day weeks
Having a Friday off and out of the office is quite possibly one of the best feelings in the world. Why isn’t every week a four-dayer?
My oldest friends
Most of my closest friends are those I’ve known for more than 15 years. I am very lucky to have a bunch of girlfriends who know and support me even if it’s been months since we caught up properly.
Working with people that make me laugh
You spend more time with the people you work with on average than your partner; a scary thought unless you’re working with people that honestly make you laugh. I’m lucky that I have genuine, actual friends at my job and on the days where I can’t think of anything worse than being stuck at a desk, I’m grateful for the fact that they can pick me up and make me giggle.
What are you most thankful for? Let me know in the comments – Happy Thanksgiving! xo
