I recently owned up in a recent blog to having a love affair with blusher. But I have another confession to make: I’m also a notorious mascara hoarder. I can’t resist adding a new one to my make-up collection on a monthly (maybe even weekly) basis and there’s just no stopping me.
From drugstore to high-end, I have an obsession with finding and trying new mascaras that promise to make my lashes fuller, longer and all in all, that bit more awesome. I’m still looking for ‘The Holy Grail Of Mascaras’ but here’s a few that never let me down:
max factor false lash effect
I might not have found ‘The Holy Grail’ but this mascara comes pretty close. It’s a recent addition to my collection and was recommended by a multitude of fellow beauty bloggers who all raved about its magical lash powers. I’ve been massively impressed by this mascara and find it really does make my eyelashes look longer and thicker.
Maybelline great lash
This dainty mascara is fantastic for throwing into your bag for a night out and gives your lashes a great everyday pick-me-up. The wand is much smaller than any other mascara I use so the lashes aren’t as emphasised when you use it but it’s perfect for a minimal makeup day.
Benefit they’re real
Surely every beauty blogger has this in their makeup bag? I totally fell for the hype earlier this year and got my hands on this mascara that, according to Benefit’s website, promises to give you ‘bigger, bolder, sexier lashes’. Whilst I do love this product, the one thing I can’t bear about They’re Real is the panda eyes; it’s so tough to get off at the end of the day and even when I think I’ve removed it all, I wake up the next morning with black smudges. I probably won’t repurchase this when it runs out but I still love it for a more dramatic eye look.
maybelline lash sensational
This is yet another ‘every other beauty blogger has this so surely I need it too’ kinda purchase. And with this mascara, I totally get what all the fuss is about. If it wasn’t for my recent Max Factor addition, this would be my absolute favourite go-to mascara. The curved wand gives your lashes an awesome lift and you can layer this easily without leaving any clumps. A winner in my eyes!
bourjois paris liner pinceau
OK: this isn’t a mascara. But no eye makeup blog post would be complete without my one and only love, the liquid eyeliner. I wear this pretty much every single day and my face just feels naked without it. I’ve experimented with a few but this Bourjois Paris liner is now the only liquid liner that I’ll use. It’s thin tip means you can create a subtle line or, for a more cat-eye look, you can layer up for a more standout appearance. Seriously; I don’t know where I’d be without it.
