Mini Max Factor Haul

I’m a high street, drugstore beauty kinda girl through and through. I do have some highend products in my makeup bag but generally, I stick to what I can find in Boots (and preferably on a 3 for 2 offer). Recently, I decided to go ‘high-end drugstore’ and splurge on a few Max Factor products.

I’ll admit, before this haul, I’d never bought anything from Max Factor. I guess when I was younger and first started wearing makeup, it was too pricey. Not to mention the fact that Max Factor had a slightly more ‘mumsy’ feel to the brand back in the day. But recently, they’ve upped their game and now, the Max Factor concession in Boots stands out like a beacon of glossy, beautifying light.

I went for a new foundation, mascara and nail varnish to bulk out my (already fit to burst) everyday makeup bag and here’s what I thought…

Face Finity all day flawless 3 in 1 foundation

I have probably tried about 20 different foundations in my makeup wearing career but I’m yet to find ‘the one’. I came pretty close with Mac’s Studio Finish foundation but the price puts me off.  I read so many glowing reports on this 3 in 1 product that I felt I had to try it out just so I could be part of the beauty blogging gang. And I have not been left disappointed. This foundation is a miracle product; it combines a primer, concealer and foundation in one and leaves the skin with a half matte half dewy finish which is perfect for someone like me who has combination skin. I went for the shade ‘Golden’ and although it is a tad dark for me, it’s so easy to blend that I can really thin this foundation out to stop any tell-tale foundation lines. I honestly can’t rave about this foundation more and will definitely be repurchasing.

Like foundations, I’ve tried so many mascaras over the years that I’ve lost count. I chop and change between carious drugstore brands depending on the finish I want but after seeing so many fellow bloggers fall in love with this Max Factor mascara, it just had to be bought. It definitely makes my lashes look longer with more volume, particularly if I curl my lashes before applying and it lasts all day with no need for reapplication. I would say that the ‘false lash effect’ slogan is perhaps a tad exaggerated and it’s not the easiest of mascaras to wipe off at the end of the day (hello panda eyes) but overall, I’ve been really happy with this buy.

Eeeeekkkkk now THIS is a product I am head over heels, madly in love with. I used to be a notorious nail biter but over the past year, I’ve kicked the habit (almost) and now absolutely love having glossy, pampered nails.  I’d been searching for that perfect Autumnal red for a while that wasn’t too dark and vampy with a bright finish and this, ladies and gents, is the one. The gel shine finish means my nails looked professionally tended to for days and I had so many compliments on the colour. I’m definitely going to be buying some more shades of this and throwing out some of my older bottles in favour of these gorgeous varnishes.

I’m with you on the Max Factor nail varnish. I think I must have been given one as a gift at some point as I found a deep autumnal red/purple hiding amongst my colours earlier this week and gave it a try – it not only looks great but it lasted so long, despite the general housey things that needed doing! Would never have usually gone to Max Factor because of the price, as you mentioned. Great post!
