Brighton is one of my favourite places in the world. I love its quirkiness, the people, the Lanes and, of course, the shopping. So when fellow Sussex blogger Katie from Katie Kirk Loves invited me along to have an “after hours” wander round Bluebelle & Co, a cute shop I’d often walked past but never ventured into, I immediately said yes.
This was my first blogger event, so I was a little nervous, but I invited my friend Jessica to come along with me and brace the windy, wet weather to explore the treasure trove that is Bluebelle & Co.
Tucked away on Trafalgar Street, just a short five minute walk from Brighton Station, this boutique haven is owned by Kate Powell, director of the amazing brand House of Disaster, which means the shop gets first access to Kate’s range of gifts, fashion and home accessories. We were greeted by Lauren, the store’s lovely manager, and invited to take our time browsing.
There’s no doubt that this shop is like a colourful, glittering Tardis; home to everything from gorgeous wedding gifts and cute baby clothes to unique children’s toys, beautiful jewellery and women’s fashion accessories as far as the eye can see. My eye was immediately drawn to a range that featured adorable cacti detailing, while Jess, a hair and make up artist, naturally gravitated toward the huge range of unique make up bags and compact mirrors with cute slogans and unique designs.
Everywhere I turned, I found the perfect gift for someone and found myself immediately making a mental list of gifts to remember for my Mum, my friends, my Grandma…and myself! The range available was unbelievable: something for every taste, every age, every interest and every occasion.
I couldn’t help but treat myself to a couple of goodies (what’s a girl supposed to do?!) and it took me a while to whittle it down to just two items but I’m totally smitten with my cacti-adorned trinket pot and beautiful soft scarf. The one bad thing about Bluebelle & Co? It could easily bankrupt me!
If you find yourself in Brighton and are on the hunt for that perfect gift for someone, whether they’re hard to buy for or not, be sure to give Bluebelle & Co a look. I’ll definitely be going back the next time I’m exploring the Lanes, and picking out a few bits and pieces I’d like for my birthday! In the meantime, I’ll just be found browsing their website, dreaming of a bigger house to fit everything into and wondering how many cacti trinket pots I can get away with having before Toby says anything….
A huge thank you to Katie for organising the evening, and for Lauren for welcoming us.
