My thoughts on Bourjois Paris’ Rouge Velvet Matte Liquid Lipsticks
While I love my makeup, I’m not that adventurous when it comes to trying new things. I love shopping for new bits and pieces but I tend to stick with what I know. Especially when it comes to my lips.
For years, I’ve stuck with wearing either my trusty rose-tinted Vaseline (subtle AND hydrating) or my favourite MAC in Honeylove which, to be honest, I only ever wore on “special occassions”. That was, until, I discovered Bourjois Paris’ Velvet Rouge liquid lipsticks.
Liquid lippies are everywhere. Every beauty blogger is raving about them, every brand is bringing them out and most make-up bags contain at least one.
As a lipstick-phobe (hey, it get’s on your teeth and is hard to maintain and is so easily lost in the depths of your handbag….), I don’t really know why I bought these Bourjois beauties in the first place. I think I was browsing Instagram one day and kept seeing people raving about their favourite lipsticks and I thought “I want a go-to lippie that I can rely on for those days where my face needs a little pick-me-up”. As you do.
With a satin matte finish, an amazing array of colours to choose from and awesome longevity, I’ve totally fallen for the Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks.
I have two shades: Nude-ist and Cool Brown. Both are subtle, perfect for everyday looks and have fast become staples in my everyday make up look. I love the high-end looking packaging, the easy-to-use wand and the fact that a little goes a long way. You can easily build the colour up for a more dramatic, “obvious” look or can use one quick swipe for a simple, minimalist finish; ideal for someone like me who finds bold lips a little frightening.
At just £8.99 each, these Bourjois beauties are affordable, long-lasting (seriously, I can pop this on in the morning, drinks copious cups of tea and eat a three-course meal and my lips still look awesome) and so easy to wear. I’m officially a liquid-lipstick convert…I’m not sure what took me so long.
Have you tried any of the other Bourjois Paris Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick shades? Let me know in the comments! xo
