The life-changing foundation

I know what you’re thinking – can a foundation really change your life? The answer? YES. Well, the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation can at least.

Like most beauty addicts out there, I’ve always been a bit of a foundation hoarder. I’ve tried pretty much every drugstore brand going and tend to have at least two different foundations on the go at once. Whilst I’m a Boots-lover through and through however, I was finding that sticking to budget foundations might be great for my purse but not so great for my skin.

I work in an office 9-5 with air con, heating and the odd stressful ‘need to rub my face cos I’m that stressed’ kinda day. So naturally, my makeup was not playing ball and was, quite literally, slipping off my face by lunchtime. So I decided that enough was enough and it was time to invest in a slightly more luxurious foundation; and I, of course, chose Estee Lauder for my new skincare venture.

As a beauty lover, I was well aware of the hype that is Double Wear; a few of my friends swear by it and those friends always seem to have a lovely finish to their makeup no matter the time of day. So I had no doubt in my decision that Estee was probably going to work wonders for me too. I started with a small sample of both the regular Double Wear and the Double Wear Light; I tend to prefer a slightly more dewy, less heavy finish to my makeup and I’m very lucky to have relatively good skin so I didn’t want anything that looked too weighty. It was clear to me almost immediately that the Light version was my long-lost love.

Almost instantly, my skin took to the lighter, weightless foundation that matched my skin tone perfectly. I’m a huge BB cream fan and this foundation has a similar consistency I find; a bit less ‘sheer’ but dewy¬†enough to not make you feel plastered in makeup when you apply it. Thanks to a lack of sunshine in the past 18 months, I’m a shade 2.0 and you really need the tiniest amount for an everyday look – I apply a tiny bit more for a night out or if I’m feeling a little ropey but the longevity of this product is superb.

Along with my new fave foundation, I purchased the Sigma Round Kabuki F82 foundation brush and OH MY GOD IT’S AMAZING. Seriously. This foundation brush is just dreamy, especially partnered with the Double Wear. ¬†There’s something about the flat top that buffs the product into the skin so beautifully.

If you’re in the market for a new foundation, I couldn’t recommend Double Wear highly enough. Yes, the price tag is steep compared to your average Boots or Superdrug purchase. But you truly are paying for quality and longevity which, let’s be honest, you can’t really put a price on when it comes to a stunning base.

It’s really great if you’re after a lighter, more dewy finish. I personally found the regular DW a bit heavy for my skin but this is great for a slightly less weighty finish :) Thanks for reading!! xx

I hated how heavy double wear felt on my skin so this may be a good alternative. I really like bare minerals liquid foundation for everyday.

It’s definitely a great alternative, I too didn’t like the heavy feel on my face with the regular DW but the light version is a totally different product! I’ve heard lots of great things about the Bare Minerals foundations, that might have to be my next investment! x
