There’s something about Autumn that brings all the dark, berry-toned lipsticks in a beauty addicts makeup bag to the surface. But what about those, like me, who prefer a nude lip? This blog is for the naked-style lippie lovers out there who need a break from all those red and purple hues.
I’ve never been a confident lipstick wearer; I remember my Mum dragging me into Boots when I was about 16 and trying to convince me that No.7 lipstick was the way forward but I just wasn’t on board. Maybe it’s my skin tone or maybe it’s a confidence thing but I’ve always stuck to a much nuder lip and even then, have only recently started to experiment with different tones and brands.
Here’s a few of my favourite nude lip products that make me feel preened and pretty even in the colder months:
kate moss by rimmel – rossetto
This has been lurking in my makeup bag for a while now and I love the matte finish this lipstick gives. It’s VERY nude – as in, when I wear it, I can barely tell which is a good thing if I’m going for a very minimal look. I sometimes apply a gloss over this lippie to give it a bit more edge and that works really well. The downside? It won’t make you look like Kate Moss. Devastating.
revlon super lustrous – blushed & CINNAMON bronze
These two lipsticks are new additions to my collection and I’ve been super impressed. They’re more glossy than the Rimmel product and the longevity is brilliant. Blushed is my go-to nude shade for everyday wear whereas Cinnamon Bronze, whilst it looks brown-toned in the packaging, is definitely more pink than I realised making it more of a spring/summer lippie. Regardless, I love these Revlon beauties and will be adding to my collection next payday.
tanya burr lipgloss – lunch date
With more and more Youtubers bringing out beauty ranges these days, one would be forgiven for thinking they might just be another money-making, brand building exercise as opposed to offering a serious beauty range. The Tanya Burr lip gloss range is the exception. I’ve had Lunch Date in my handbag now for a while and it’s my holy grail of nude lip looks. Not only does it smell like strawberries, it offers a long-lasting, gorgeous gloss that lasts all day (almost) and doesn’t make your lips look like a glitter ball. I couldn’t love this lip gloss more if I tried.
vaseline jelly – rosy lips
I appreciate that including a Vaseline product in my top nude lip products blog makes me sound old. But I carry this product with me wherever I go so it wouldn’t seem right to not include it. If, like me, you suffer with dry and chapped lips in the wintertime, this is a little pot of live-saving-ness as it not only nourishes your lips, it leaves them tinged with a touch of rosy pink. The almond oil leaves your lips feeling soft and luscious all day long and it lasts forever; a winner in my eyes.
