I admit – I’m a bit obsessed with skincare blogs. Even before Colour Me Copper was born, I was reading tons of skincare blogs each week to get my latest fix of the newest products on the market and to see what fellow beauty addicts were recommending. So it only seems right that, now I’m a fully-fledged blogger (kinda), I share my very own everyday skincare essentials.
I never used to spend too much time looking after my skin but over the past year or so, since hitting mid-late twenties (gahhh), I thought it high time I took better care of that face of mine. Here’s what I use on a daily basis in the mornings to take care of my skin before applying my beloved make-up…
THE BODY SHOP – VITAMIN E GENTLE FASH WASH AND MOISTURE CREAM
The Body Shop offer the holy grails of skincare. But for someone like me, who has combination skin that can get very greasy, it’s hard to find the right morning cleanser and moisturiser that won’t make your face shiny and feel bogged down in products. The Vitamin E range is great for all skin types and is super gentle on the skin. I use the facial wash every single morning in the shower, whilst I’m letting my conditioner work its magic, and then apply the moisture cream once I’m out.
DIRTY WORKS ‘THE ULTIMATE DETOX MUD MASK’
OK, this isn’t quite an ‘everyday’ product as I only use it three times a week but I still wanted to include it as its an important part of my skincare regime. Like face washes, I’ve experimented with a huge number of face masks over the years but again, many made my skin breakout or left my face feeling claggy. I picked this up for just under £2 in Sainsbury’s a couple of weeks ago on a whim and haven’t looked back since. You simply apply for 10 minutes and then wash off to reveal a super smooth complexion. And it smells like blueberry. Who says budget can’t be beautiful?
COLLECTION ‘PRIMED AND READY’ SMOOTHING MAKE-UP PRIMER
Yet another example of a budget buy that works wonders. I invested in a MAC primer about six months ago and was so excited to try it…only to find it left my skin greasy and spotty. One day, I randomly picked up this Collection product as part of a 3 for 2 deal (got to love Boots) and it’s by far the best primer I’ve used in a long time. I pop this on after my moisture cream and before my make-up and voila; my foundation doesn’t budget all day. You only need a tiny amount so it lasts forever despite the small bottle.
And for the rest of my body…..
SOAP & GLORY ‘THE SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE’
I know hundreds of other beauty bloggers rave about this product and I just can’t help but join in. I use this every morning in the shower with my body buffer and it leaves my skin super smooth, especially those areas that are prone to dry skin such as your elbows and backs of your arms. It’s a miracle scrub.
DOVE SUMMER GLOW AND GARNIER OIL BEAUTY
Now that Summer is officially over, there’s never a better time to crack out my trusty Dove Summer Glow – it leaves the perfect subtle hint of tan and doesn’t leave that telling smell. I don’t like to use Dove every day so on my ‘non-tanning’ mornings, I use the Garnier Oil Beauty lotion which leaves my skin silky smooth and with a very light shimmer. The perfect finish for an Autumn day.
